Descartes Approach to knowlege

Definitely different from Bacon, Descartes approach to knowledge and his method serve as a clear example to his unique thought style. He sees learning as quantitative and qualitative that you can learn and respect anything you learn, but you dont have to agree or disagree with it. Thats what is so beautifully simple and complex is that he gives every area of learning a chance whether he thinks it correct or not. This compared to Bacon's very strict rules toward words serving no purpose and shouldnt be used at all. But later nearly contradicts himself. Descartes however leaves his thoughts open for interpretation, and I dont think that is because he feared making a bold statement against religion or for. But that he wanted to share his outlook with everyone who reads his work. He states "Thus my purpose here is not to teach the method that everyone ought to follow in order to conduct his reason well, but merely to show how i have tried to conduct my own"(47, Descartes). We spoke in class about how many thought he was writing in this style to keep from being persecuted but, I believe he had thought this way because he saw it true. And that he was unique for it because he set out his thoughts in a work like a memoir or even simpler just his journal. Not meaning to influence but to simply explain his thoughts.
