Hobbes vs Locke on property

Hobbes believes the government can take your property at any time, being that he believes in monarchy. On the other hand, Locke believes you have the right to earn your own property that the government will not take from you.

I believe to have a working society, like we do today, it is essential to keep both of these principles in mind. I agree more with locke, in the sense that people have to earn their property. Also, i agree with the fact that locke feels distribution of wealth should not happen, and those who do not work should not be kept alive by those who work hard. But, unfortunately society does not work that way. After reading both Hobbes and locke, i appreciate Locke's thoughts on property and government mush more than Hobbes. His thoughts are much more realistic and actually played a large part in the formation of the constitution.
